Trump’s Task Force Kills Second Person in Four Days
A member of Trump’s Memphis Safe Task Force shot to death yet another person on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported, an unnamed man to whom they were supposed to give a drug warrant. The man is the second person task force agents have killed in four days and the sixth since last fall.
Trump created the task force via imperial decree in September to “end street and violent crime” through the “facilitation of hypervigilant policing, aggressive prosecution” and, by the look of it, extrajudicial executions. It directs federal and state agencies to work together to “make Memphis safe and restore public order.”
It is unclear from the story how many agents were on the scene or the agencies they represented; the story says only that a Drug Enforcement Administration agent shot the man as the task force was serving him a warrant at a hotel. When the man refused to open the door, agents broke it down and one of them fired into the room. A press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it is investigating why the situation escalated.
The shooting came just four days after two Tennessee National Guard soldiers on the task force shot to death 20-year-old Tyrin Johnson as he allegedly ran away and then “turned towards the soldiers with a gun.” Trump’s task force has now killed six people; it is reasonable to say that Trump is running multiple death squads across America and that the nation is no longer a functioning democracy.

McConnell’s Ongoing Absence Threatens Republicans’ Warmongering
Speaking of a nonfunctioning democracy, Kentucky’s missing 84-year-old Republican Senator, Mitch McConnell, is about to cause some major problems for his confederates if he doesn’t show up to work on Monday, the Washington Post reported. McConnell hasn’t been seen for almost a month since he sustained an unknown medical emergency. During that time there’s been no public information released about his condition. What’s happening is so unclear that Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear sent McConnell’s office a letter on Wednesday requesting information about his condition.
The situation is not only a medical mystery, it also stands to upend Republicans’ ability to shovel more tax dollars into Trump’s war machine. That’s because he’s a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and leader of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over military spending. Trump wants an additional $87.6 billion in supplemental funding so he can continue to bomb Iran, a request Democrats reject unless it comes with an increase to domestic programs. McConnell’s absence eliminates Republicans’ one-person majority on the committee. Per the Post:
Republicans and Democrats on the committee have been at a stalemate that began over disagreements about defense funding. If the two sides can’t come to an agreement, Republicans will likely need McConnell’s support to advance any spending bills out of the committee amid Democratic opposition. …
Without McConnell, the appropriations committee is split evenly between Republicans and Democrats, and tied votes tend to sink legislation in committees.

In response to Republicans decimating reproductive rights and basic healthcare, Planned Parenthood Votes will spend a near-record amount on “ads and voter-outreach efforts targeting Republicans across 10 battleground House races in seven states, as well as in Maine and Michigan’s critical Senate contests. Sarah Standiford, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, said, “We’re in the fight of our lives,” and that the PAC will fight to the mat to “elect unapologetic champions of reproductive freedom” and “make sure members of Congress who voted against Planned Parenthood lose their jobs.” Hell yeah man.
