THE BIG NEWS
Health Insurers Plan Rate Hikes For Next Year, Too
Insurers who offer Affordable Care Act plans are proposing to raise rates by double digits for the second year in a row, the Associated Press reported. The median increase is 14 percent. That would result in even more uninsured Americans, which means even more people will die unnecessarily. Insurers raised rates significantly this year after Trump’s disastrous spending bill ripped $1 trillion out of healthcare spending, the worst healthcare cuts in history. Average monthly net premiums across the ACA marketplace went up by 58 percent, forcing 1.2 million people to go uninsured, the biggest drop in enrollment since the marketplace opened in 2014.
