ICE Kills Third Person in One Week

Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security Investigation agents chased a 28-year-old man in Florida to his death yesterday, the Associated Press and Miami Herald reported. It is the third instance in seven days of federal immigration agents killing someone, following their street executions in Maine and Texas. As of Tuesday evening, the man’s name was not yet published.

As with the other two completely avoidable and unnecessary deaths over the last week, this one took place at the start of the workday. The agents confronted four men in the parking lot of a gas station in the St. Augustine area shortly before 7 a.m. The men fled; one of them attempted to run across State Road 16, and a tractor-trailer ran him down. The driver stopped and attempted to help. By my count, federal immigration agents have caused at least 11 fatal car chases or accident since Trump retook the White House.

Also yesterday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement told agents to stop chasing people in cars, NBC News reported. But as PBS reported, “the suspension is not absolute,” which makes it sound more like a suggestion.

Trump Threatens Iran With War Crimes, Enforces Blockade With 20 Warships 

Trump on Tuesday said he would destroy Iran’s bridges and power plants, bomb it “very hard,” and refused to rule out a ground invasion, the NYT reported. He’ll keep bombing Iran hard until leaders sign his deal. If they don’t, “you are not going to have anybody left.” International law holds that attacking civilian infrastructure is a war crime. Trump also said Iranian officials’ statement that they are not seeking to develop a nuclear weapon is untrue – “Everything they say is a lie” – and imposed new sanctions against an Iranian shipping network. As of 4 p.m. Eastern, the US began enforcing a blockade against Iran’s ports and coast, “with more than 20 U.S. Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft deployed across the Middle East.” 

Law Enforcement Causing Hundreds of Lasting Traumatic Injuries Outside ICE Camps

Officers are causing hundreds severe injuries with “less-lethal” weapons when they violently suppress crowds outside Trump's concentration camps, Physicians for Human Rights and the Human Rights Center at the University of California, Berkeley, found in new research, according to the Guardian. The groups published a report and an interactive map documenting 412 verified incidents of misused crowd control weaponry between last June and May 2026. The report found law enforcement had caused 203 injuries, “included blindings, traumatic brain injuries, lacerations, fractures and contusions.” Researchers said the true number of injuries is probably much larger, in part because their visual investigative techniques “cannot adequately assess invisible injuries, such as chemical injury or chronic pain or hearing loss.”

  • LAPD Ends Agreement With Flock Surveillance Cameras The department allowed the contract with odious license plate reader company Flock to expire after the cameras incorrectly identified cars as stolen, leading cops to improperly investigate 161 innocent people in two months. via 404 Media.
  • House Overwhelmingly Passes Law to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent The bill would end the practice of forcing everybody to have jetlag without leaving home twice a year; it passed 308-117 and now goes to the Senate. Trump “strongly backs the measure.” via HuffPost.

$81 billion

That’s how much in tariff refunds the US government has paid back to companies, far above the $5 billion in refunds it paid last year. The increase comes almost entirely from a Supreme Court decision in February that ruled Trump’s tariffs were illegal and is another corporate windfall. Though executives moaned about the tariffs, they used them as an excuse to jack up prices on everything, regardless of whether they actually applied to a particular good in question. So first we paid for price increases. Now we are paying the refund from our taxes. In other words, executives got to double-dip.
