House Members Want to Combine US, Israeli Militaries

House members tucked a provision 40 pages into their version of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act that would “intertwine the US military with the Israeli military” even further than the $200 billion the US has sent the rogue nation since it was founded in 1948, Responsible Statecraft reported. Section 224, titled “United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative,” outlines multiple joint ventures, including bilateral research and development, coproduction of weapons, licensing agreements, “and seemingly every manner of U.S.-Israeli military-industrial complex cooperation.” The initiative would be in addition to the work the two empire-building deathmonger nations have already undertaken together, including missile defense, “but this provision would greatly expand coordination to seemingly every area of defense tech, including AI, quantum, autonomous systems, directed energy, cyber, biotech, and many more. It also proposes ‘network integration’ and ‘data fusion.’ In other words, the U.S. military’s data could soon be the Israeli military’s data.” 

The program would vastly increase Israel’s influence over the US, well beyond what the Israel lobby and social media influencers can achieve. Per Responsible Statecraft: 

It would give the Israeli government the opportunity to greatly expand one of the most powerful levers of influence in U.S. politics: jobs in the U.S. By expanding or starting new co-production facilities like it already has in Mississippi and Arkansas, the Israeli government could boast of providing jobs on U.S. soil, thereby securing allies among members of Congress who represent the districts where those jobs lie.
The result could well be a U.S. political system even more susceptible to the whims of an Israeli government that seemingly has no qualms about drawing the U.S. into military conflicts in the Middle East.

Meanwhile multiple New York politicians recently demonstrated their cooperation with Israel when they joined far-right Israeli lawmakers Sunday to march around town for the annual Israel Day Parade, Truthout reported. Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, State Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, and former NYC mayors Michael Bloomberg and Eric Adams all decided it would be a good idea to march around with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich – whom Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom sanctioned last year for repeated incitements of violence against Palestinians – and multiple of his fellow fascists. (Rest easy, Mamdani wasn’t there).

Mother Whose Toddler DHS Sentenced to Death Returns to Bury Him 

The Washington Post has a story of such acute heartbreak, horror and injustice that I can barely believe I’m typing a summary of it. A few days ago, I brought you the news that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials had essentially sentenced to death Wendy Hernandez Reyes’ son, Orlin, when they deported her and refused to let her take him. She begged officials to let them go together. They refused and instead handed him over to her sister’s estranged partner, who then beat Orlin to death after sexually abusing and torturing him. Then acting ICE director Todd Lyons said Hernandez was the one to blame because she had “abandoned” Orlin, which was a lie. Over the weekend, the Department of Homeland Security allowed Hernandez to return to bury her son. “When she saw the toddler lying in the satin-lined casket, she fell to her knees and began to wail,” the Post reported. “My God, why,” she cried. “Orlinsito, my son.” Throughout her trip, the feds forced Hernandez to wear an ankle monitor. It is impossible to hate DHS and ICE too much.

Trump Kills $368 Million Deep-Ocean Observation System 

As part of his ongoing anti-science pro-climate-crisis regime, Trump is ripping out crucial observation instruments anchored 900 feet deep off the coasts of Alaska, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, and the Irminger Sea between Greenland and Iceland, where they had been providing essential data for a decade, the NYT reported. Scientists used the data “to understand how the ocean is absorbing greenhouse gases from the atmosphere, how changes in ocean temperature such as marine heat waves might affect fisheries or signal bigger shifts in the climate, and coastal flooding along the East Coast.” The observation system had been expected to operate until 2041. We are worse off without it, said Craig McLean, acting chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration during the first Trump term. “This reflects the further lack of understanding that the current administration has of scientific value and scientific merit,” he told the NYT. “By dismantling such a system, we push the United States back yet again into a rear seat in global scientific leadership.”

  • Surveillance State Provider Anthropic Files for IPO The artificial intelligence company, which allows state actors to surveil and track foreign and domestic citizens, is on the road to becoming a public company, which is bad news because they will make a lot of money but good news if you are a little public disclosures freak who wants to see exactly how much money the board members are making. via WSJ.

Already there’s a massive backlog of state aid requests, Politico reported.
