UFW Cancels César Chávez Day Events Amid 'Profoundly Shocking' Allegations

The United Farm Workers union honors its co-founder, the late César Chávez, every March 31, in a commemorative federal holiday as well as a state holiday in California. But not this year. It isn't yet clear exactly what happened, but the union has canceled a swath of celebrations across the country after receiving "troubling allegations" of "inappropriate sexual behavior" by the iconic labor leader while he was president of the union.

The UFW declined to detail the allegations beyond saying they relate to "abuse of young women or minors" and that "some of the reports are family issues, and not our story to tell or our place to comment on." Per CNN, the union is opening up a confidential channel for any victims to make reports as well as devising "accountability measures." An expert tells the Los Angeles Times that the abuse claims could spark legal claims against the union.

The reporter, Emanuel Fabian, refused and reported the threats to police.

Meanwhile, another prediction market website, Kalshi, has been criminally charged in Arizona for operating a operating an illegal gambling business. The fast-growing industry has support from the Trump regime, but "Arizona will not be bullied into letting any company place itself above state law," Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes says.

I'm with you as well."
