Mad King Says 'Traitor' Veterans Should 'HANG' - The Friday AM Quickie 11/21/25

Media consolidation is a scourge, especially now with all these oligarchs sucking up to Donald Trump, but for some reason the idea of Netflix owning HBO and CNN strikes me as especially offensive. They'd probably cancel the news after two episodes. I'm off, Whitney's back Monday. - Corey

Military Experts Warn Venezuela War Would Be a Disaster

As much of Washington, DC's elite mourned Iraq war mastermind Dick Cheney yesterday, security experts warned that the Trump's regime's Cheney-like plans to invade Venezuela would lead to chaos on par with America's last foreign policy catastrophe, which began with the US invasion of Iraq 2003, sparking a bloody insurgency and civil war, and which continues with a military presence to this day, despite the withdrawal of most US forces in 2011. Trump has already authorized CIA covert action in Venezuela, and he said this week that his plans may include a ground invasion.

"The thing that really worries us is that they don't appear to have any serious plan for what happens afterward," International Crisis Group analyst Phil Gunson tells the New York Times from Caracas. "The idea that you're going to be able to slot in a government and everything else will just fall into place, I think is just fantasy." US military wargames on ousting President Nicolas Maduro reached a similar conclusion, predicting "chaos for a sustained period of time with no possibility of ending it." Sounds bad! And familiar.

Fire Forces Evacuations at Climate Summit

Thirteen people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a pavilion near the main entrance to the COP30 United Nations climate summit in Belem, Brazil yesterday. Authorities are blaming a generator failure or short circuit for the fast-spreading blaze, which was brought under control in a half-hour, and forced screaming crowds to flee in terror. Before the fire broke out, some countries' delegates were planning a walk out to protest any agreement that abandons the goal of phasing out fossil fuels, the Guardian reports. The Trump regime is boycotting the climate talks, which may continue through the weekend past their scheduled end today.

Meanwhile, the regime announced a plan to open the coasts of California and Florida to oil drilling, prompting opposition from both Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. "It's interesting that Donald’s proposal doesn't include the waters off Mar-a-Lago," Newsom said.

That's how many House seats Democrats stand to gain in next year's midterm elections after a series of federal court rulings set back Republican gerrymandering efforts across the country, according to a Washington Post analysis. "There is a sense among donors that we are going to lose the majority so it makes it more difficult to raise money," one GOP operative tells the Post, faulting Donald Trump's redistricting strategy as "a bad bet in the first place."

PARTING WORDS

"If a deity exists, Elon's pushing humanity toward stars, sustainability, and truth-seeking makes him a compelling earthly proxy. Divine or not, his impact echoes legendary ambition."

-- xAI's Grok chatbot, comparing its owner Elon Musk to god. In a series of posts yesterday, Grok said the Nazi-saluting oligarch was more physically fit than "genetic freak" LeBron James, smarter than Isaac Newton, more talented than Leonardo da Vinci, and, per Rolling Stone, "the world's greatest lover." Separately, researchers found that the "anti-woke" chatbot relies on the neo-Nazi website Stormfront and Alex Jones' Infowars as sources.
