The New York Times reports that Nazi-saluting oligarch Elon Musk's creepy dad, Errol, is an even worse person than he seems to be whenever he opens his mouth. Errol, 79, stands accused of sexually abusing at least five of his children and stepchildren, both girls and boys, in South Africa and California, beginning in 1993 and carrying on as recently as 2023. The Times investigation cites "police and court records, personal correspondence, social workers and interviews with family members." Democrat Adelita Grijalva Wins Arizona Special Election, Narrowing GOP House Majority

The daughter of late progressive US Rep. Raúl Grijalva, Adelita, yesterday reclaimed his seat, giving Democrats more power in the House, and narrowing the GOP majority to 219-214. Grijalva will, like her father, join the Congressional Progressive Caucus; she boasts the endorsements of Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, New York Squad Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost, who co-chairs the progressive caucus; also last month she denounced Israel's war in Gaza as a "genocide." Grijalva's entry to caucus changes the calculations on some key votes. She has promised, for instance, to "sign the bipartisan discharge petition to force a vote on releasing the [Jeffrey] Epstein files" on her first day in Congress, which could come in October.

PARTING WORDS

"Our freedom to speak is what [comedians abroad] admire most about this country. And that's something I’m embarrassed to say I took for granted until they pulled my friend Stephen off the air and tried to coerce the affiliates who run our show in the cities that you live in to take my show off the air. That's not legal, that's not American. That is un-American. And it's so dangerous."

-- ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, in his opening monologue on his return to the airwaves last night, after pressure from Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr prompted the network's owner, Disney, to suspend him. The media megacorporation changed its mind following public backlash to the brazen act of censorship. Congressional Democrats yesterday opened a probe into TV station owners Nextar and Sinclair, whose decision to preempt Kimmel's show was motivated by regulatory matters before the FCC.
