War on Iran: US Military Stays in Place, But Iran Has Its Own Deterrent

Pam Bondi Hopes to Bail on House Epstein Files Subpoena

House Republicans are at odds with Donald Trump's Justice Department on the persistent subject of the government's files on the late elite sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The Washington Post reports that the DOJ has informed Congress that former Attorney General Pam Bondi won't testify to the House Oversight Committee about the files as scheduled next week, arguing that a Congressional subpoena no longer applies because she's no longer AG. The Republican-led committee leadership isn't OK with that, however. A committee spokesperson says it will contact Bondi's personal counsel "to discuss next steps regarding scheduling her deposition."

The Committee's top Democratic, California Rep. Robert Garcia, tells Politico that Bondi must "testify immediately, and if she defies the subpoena, we will begin contempt charges in the Congress." Two Epstein survivors, Maria and Annie Farmer, tell NBC News that "survivors have waited nearly three decades for answers—how much longer must we wait? .... Until Bondi's deposition happens and her testimony is given under oath, we will continue asking Congress to use every lever possible to ensure justice is served."

Chuck Schumer Is a Liability in Democratic Primaries – and Hasan Piker Is an Asset

How things have changed. NBC News reports from the campaign trail for US Senate in Des Moines, Iowa, where "state Sen. Zach Wahls tried to characterize his primary rival, state Rep. Josh Turek, as an extension of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York." Wahls vowed that "I will not be there to work for Chuck Schumer or for Donald Trump or the billionaires or the big corporations. I am running for the United States Senate because Iowans deserve a senator who works for us." And Turek remained on the defensive about taking dark money from a Schumer-linked super PAC.

Meanwhile in Michigan, the New York Times reports on leftist streamer Hasan Piker hitting the campaign trail for Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. And, by all accounts, it looks like centrist attempts to drive Piker out of the Democratic coalition are failing. Republicans expect to lose big time in the November midterm general election – and it will be the Democrats' left flank propelling the the party to victory as Donald Trump drags the GOP down.

A seven-foot statue of Magwa, an African giant pouched rat who sniffed out dozens of land mines over 1.52 million square feet in the country, was unveiled on Friday in the country to mark the International Day for Mine Awareness. Cambodia hopes to clear the remaining 6 million land mines that plague the country by 2030.
