THE BIG NEWS
FBI Interviews with Trump Accusers, Including a Woman Who Says Trump Raped Her When She Was 13, Missing from Epstein Files
CNN yesterday confirmed a National Public Radio report that the Justice Department illegally withheld evidence from its partial public release of the government files on Jeffrey Epstein – evidence that could implicate Donald Trump in the sexual abuse of a minor.
Dozens of records, comprising FBI witness interviews known as "302" files, are missing from the DOJ's release of more than 3 million pages of files on the late elite sex trafficker and longtime friend of Trump. According to NPR, some of the missing files were briefly online before being taken down, "while others remain hidden."
CNN reports that "some of the missing interview records appear to be related to a witness who accused Trump of sexual assault.
"The woman first called an FBI hotline and reported that she had been a victim of Epstein on July 10, 2019, several days after his arrest, according to case files.
"FBI agents then interviewed her at her attorney’s office two weeks later, according to a 302 document that lays out what she said in the interview. The woman told agents that Epstein had repeatedly abused her at a home he was staying at in South Carolina after he responded to an ad for babysitting services. The abuse started when she was approximately 13 years old, the woman said."
NPR adds some disturbing detail:
"The woman who directly named Trump in her abuse allegation claimed that around 1983, when she was around 13 years old, Epstein introduced her to Trump, 'who subsequently forced her head down to his exposed penis which she subsequently bit. In response, Trump punched her in the head and kicked her out.'"
A Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico, tells HuffPost that the allegation against Trump was credible. "I can tell you unequivocally the FBI investigated it," she says. California Rep. Robert Garcia, who is the top Democrat on Oversight, says the DOJ has violated the law Congress passed last year to force the release of the Epstein files. "Covering up direct evidence of a potential assault by the President of the United States is the most serious possible crime in this White House cover up," Garcia says.
The NPR report built on reporting from former Daily Beast political reporter Roger Sollenberger, who revealed a civil complaint from Trump's accuser. Former Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown, whose crusading investigations led to Epstein's imprisonment before his death, writes that the allegations against Trump may or may not be true, but "shouldn't be dismissed." Indeed, it's up to the rest of the press to ensure that the Republican media machine doesn't bury what many think is the biggest story in the world, a story that has already toppled politicians and royals abroad, and which even shocks the consciences of some Trump voters.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Warns Iran War Would Go Badly
Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the top general in the United States military, has been warning Donald Trump and his aides that a major assault on Iran would result in significant US casualties. Caine is no dove; he oversaw last summer's attack on Iranian nuclear sites as well as the January kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. According to Axios and the Washington Post, Caine has warned that the US is low on munitions on account of supporting Israel and Ukraine, and that the lack of support for an attack on Iran from US allies would compromise any military mission.
Trump isn't listening, of course. After news broke of Caine's views, Trump wrote that "it is his opinion that it will be something easily won." As the New York Times reports, that's just another lie from the deranged White House occupant. More than 150 military aircraft have been shifted to US bases in Europe and the Middle East, according to the Post. Meanwhile, the State Department yesterday ordered nonessential staff and their family to leave Lebanon, calling it a "prudent" measure given Trump's threat to effectively blow up the entire region.

Trump Can't Focus Long Enough to Attack Mamdani
"Hello, darling, how are you?"
PARTING WORDS
"If the cops decided to scoop up a little snow and play along it would've been a great moment for the community, people would've liked the police more. But they chose to shove people and get angry and they embarrassed themselves."
-- Django Spadola of Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, speaking to Gothamist about the massive snowball fight in Manhattan's Washington Square Park yesterday, which New York Police Department officers responded to by attacking the crowd. Mayor Zohran Mamdani downplayed the incident and the cops' call for criminal prosecutions, saying, "from the videos I saw, it looks like a snowball fight." The Police Benevolent Association called Mamdani's response "a complete failure of leadership" that sends "a dangerous message to every person who might be looking to attack a police officer in the future." The NYPD claims four officers were hospitalized with "facial lacerations," also known as boo-boos.
