I'm enjoying Pluribus, eerie as it is. I don't know how well I'd do inside a hive mind. I have enough trouble with social media. - Corey

THE BIG NEWS

Bill to Release Epstein Files Awaits Trump's Signature After House and Senate Passage

The vote in the House yesterday was 427-1, with Louisiana Republican Rep. Clay Higgins standing as the sole opponent of a bill to force the Justice Department to release its records on the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The Senate then approved the House bill by unanimous consent. Now the burden of disclosure rests upon a man who allegedly had knowledge of his longtime friend Epstein's sex trafficking operation, Donald Trump.

He says he'll sign the bill. "We'll give them everything," he told reporters on Monday. We'll see. "If the president tries to manipulate his way into releasing just some of the Epstein files while deliberately hiding others, the public will see right through it — and their frustration, their distrust in Donald Trump will grow even worse," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer warned from the Senate floor.

Some survivors of Epstein's abuse spoke outside the Capitol before the vote. "It is not about you, President Trump," Jena-Lisa Jones said, per HuffPost. "I voted for you, but your behavior on this issue has been a national embarrassment." Indeed, Trump's stonewalling has "ripped MAGA apart," Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said, who joined the survivors.

Also joining the survivors was Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, who co-authored the disclosure bill with Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky. "Because survivors spoke up, because of their courage, the truth is finally going to come out," Khanna said yesterday. "And when it comes out, this country is really going to have a moral reckoning."

Corruption Reaches New Peak as Trump Fetes Murderous Saudi Ruler

Donald Trump yesterday hosted Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who ordered the murder of an American journalist in 2018, and who rules absolutely over the oil-rich kingdom that was responsible for the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed 3,000 people, for a black-tie dinner at the White House. "We've always been on the same side of every issue," Trump told reporters. As for Jamal Khashoggi, the Washington Post journalist MBS had killed, "a lot of people didn't like that gentleman," Trump said. "Things happen." He also threatened to yank the broadcast license of ABC News, whose reporter asked Trump about the murder.

Khashoggi's former editor, Karen Attiah, writes that the friendly visit represents the ongoing "Saudification" of the US under Trump, who will profit personally from his relationship with MBS. Trump also elevated Saudi Arabia to the status of a "major non-NATO ally" and moved forward with the sale of advanced F-35 fighter jets to the blood-drenched monarchy. Gross.

UN Approves Trump Plan for Gaza

On Monday, the 15-member United Nations Security Council approved the Trump regime's plan for Gaza, which calls for an International Security Force to take over territory formerly occupied by the Israeli military. Russia and China abstained from the vote. Hamas rejects the US plan, saying the UN's international force would become "a party to the conflict on behalf of" Israel, which may explain why Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauds Trump's plan, saying it "will lead to peace and prosperity." According to the New York Times, there was "no formal Palestinian representation" in the preparation of the plan, which, per the Associated Press, "gives Palestinians almost no voice in governing Gaza." Meanwhile in southern Lebanon, an Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian refugee camp killed 13 people.

SOME NUMBER

$85.4 trillion

That's how much wealth is held by America's richest generation, the Baby Boomers, according to Federal Reserve data reported by the Washington Post. Experts say that rather than serving as evidence that the Boomers were especially smart with money, the numbers reflect dramatically lower housing prices in the past and the oppressive debt burden on younger generations, not to mention the forgotten advantages of defined-benefit pension plans.

PARTING WORDS

"This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens. Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution. Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren't just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear: You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution."

-- A group of six Democrats in the House and Senate, all of whom served in the US military or intelligence community, appealing to servicemembers to uphold their oaths and refuse the Trump regime's illegal orders in a new online video. According to the New York Times, Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan organized the video, which has outraged Republicans. The message also features Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona as well as and Reps. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Jason Crow of Colorado, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania.
