Democratic City Leaders Urged to Prepare for More Trump Troop Takeovers
Civil rights leaders across the country yesterday denounced Donald Trump's military takeover of Washington, DC, supposedly to combat "crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse." Crime, of course, has actually been declining in most American cities. NAACP President Derrick Johnson calls the DC military depoyment a "federal coup" – but unlike Donald Trump's last attempted coup d'etat in the nation's capital, on Jan. 6, 2021, this time he's commanding uniformed soldiers instead of a "very special" army of MAGA thugs.
"We don't live in a dirty city," DC Mayor Muriel Bowser told community leaders yesterday, rejecting Trump's outrageous lies about the city in service of his "authoritarian push." "We are not 700,000 scumbags and punks. And we don't have neighborhoods that should be bulldozed." But her official response to Trump's Fox News-friendly takeover has been more muted. According to the Washington Post, it's not clear who's currently in charge of DC police. And while many officers are grousing about the loss of community trust, others – including the leadership of the city police union – have "rejoiced" over the "switch-up in leadership."
Trump promised similar deployments may follow in other cities, and America's Black Democratic mayors expect Trump will target their cities first. "Everyone should be preparing, and the threats should be taken at face value," LiJia Gong, the policy and legal director at Local Progress, a progressive group working on racial and economic justice, tells NOTUS.
The regime is working to create a "Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force" of hundreds of National Guard troops to respond to "protests or other unrest" on as little as one hour's notice, the Post reports. It's unclear how these troops will interact with civilians, but homeless people in DC appear to be squarely in the regime's sights, with those in encampments set to be sent to jail. If I had to put money on it, I'd expect multiple deployments around election time next year.
It's worth pointing out that all of this is probably illegal. Maj. Gen. Scott Sherman, who commanded the Guard troops Trump deployed to Los Angeles this year, testified in court this week about whether the deployment violated the Posse Comitatus Act barring the use of the military as a domestic police force. Sherman testified that when he raised concerns about moving troops forward along Wilshire Boulevard in LA, a Homeland Security official "questioned his loyalty." The question as to whether troops are loyal to the Constitution or to Trump will only grow more pressing from here on out – and there's only one correct answer.

Aspiring Tsar Vladimir Putin will meet his superfan Donald Trump at a US military base in Anchorage, Alaska tomorrow. But even the White House yesterday conceded a deal is unlikely, calling the meeting a "listening exercise." "On the contrary, they are redeploying their troops and forces in ways that suggest preparations for new offensive operations. If someone is preparing for peace, this is not what he does." Zelenskyy also says Putin is likely to press Trump to force Ukraine to cede territory that could be used as a springboard for future attacks.
"We are in trouble here," warns Rima Ziuraitis, an American fighting for Ukraine. "While Putin and Trump keep everyone distracted, Russia has broken through our lines in Pokrovsk. The situation is critical."
Regime Transforms Public Agencies Into Propaganda Organs
While all presidential administrations have at times bent the truth to their advantage, you simply can't trust any information from the Trump regime, even formerly reliable statistics from dedicated civil servants. The truth-tellers have either been fired, compromised, or suppressed. Case in point is E.J. Antoni, the MAGA hack Trump has put in charge of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This week Antoni, who still awaits Senate confirmation, said BLS would stop publishing monthly jobs reports.
Meanwhile at the State Department, the annual human rights reports to Congress "have seen significant details cut, with many sections removed and country entries often half the length," all to cover up abuses by foreign governments allied with Trump. Not even the Smithsonian Institution has escaped the regime's war on truth; the national museums of history, science, and culture have been ordered to celebrate "Americanism" and "remove divisive or partisan narratives" as well as "improper ideology." Translation: hail Trump, censor everything. It's bleak!
