THE BIG NEWS

RFK Jr. Insanity Sparked CDC Chaos

If you're under 65 years old with no underlying health decisions and living in the US, you're probably going to have trouble getting a Covid-19 vaccine this year, thanks to Donald Trump and his worm-brained Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Because the Food and Drug Administration decided this week to limit approvals for new versions of the shot "your best chance of getting one is at a doctor's office, not a pharmacy," the New York Times Reports. In response to "the current regulatory environment," the country's largest pharmacy chain, CVS, won't offer Covid vaccines in at least 16 states this year.

"The current regulatory environment" is, simply put, chaos fueled by madness. "We're scared for ourselves and for the country," a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention worker tells the Times. This week, RFK Jr. tried to fire CDC Susan Monarez, confirmed by the Senate only last month, because she refused to fire her senior staff and go along with his plans to gut vaccine research and availability. "Our science is going to be compromised" by RFK Jr.'s antivax crusade, Demetre Daskalakis, a top CDC official who resigned in protest this week, tells the Washington Post. "The data is going to be massaged in some way that is going to make something look wrong with the drug[s under development.]" Another top CDC official who quit, Debra Houry, tells NBC News "America's public health is significantly in danger" thanks to Trump and Kennedy.

The White House yesterday selected RFK Jr.'s top deputy, a libertarian "Peter Thiel crony" and human "longevity" crank, Jim O'Neill, to serve as acting CDC head. O'Neill, per the Post, was a loud critic of the agency during the pandemic. "We're trying to determine what kind of advice this guy's going to give, and all he can do is mumble around and say Kennedy is doing a great job," Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren complained during O'Neill's May confirmation hearings. Previously, O'Neill has suggested that corporations should be able to sell experimental drugs to Americans without FDA testing and approval.

Kennedy, it must be said, doing the opposite of a great job. And Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, a medical doctor who chairs the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and whose vote secured Kennedy's confirmation, has buyer's remorse. Cassidy now wants to conduct "significant oversight" of the CDC and has called for a halt to its looming Sept. 18 meeting of immunization policy advisers. A little late, pal!

Meanwhile, clinical trials for children with brain cancer have ceased. The regime has cut funding.

'Immoral and Abhorrent': Trump Does Some Labor Day Union-Busting

Labor Day, honoring the struggles of American workers, is on Monday, Sept. 1. Yesterday, Donald Trump spit in those workers' faces by signing an executive order telling another half-dozen government agencies to unilaterally throw out collective bargaining agreements with employee unions, effectively banning organizing and stripping workers of their hard-won labor protections. According to the New York Times, the affected agencies include NASA, the National Weather Service, and the Bureau of Reclamation.

"Trump's decision to issue a Labor Day proclamation shortly after stripping union rights from thousands of civil servants, a third of whom are veterans, should show American workers what he really thinks about them," American Federation of Government Employees National President Everett Kelley says. "This latest executive order is another clear example of retaliation against federal employee union members who have bravely stood up against his anti-worker, anti-American plan to dismantle the federal government."

SOME NUMBER

$1.2 billion

That's the value of the US Army contract to build a migrant concentration camp at Fort Bliss, Texas, awarded to Aquisition Logistics LLC, a mystery company with no relevant experience and no website based at the suburban Virginia home of a 77-year-old retired Navy officer who doesn't answer phone messages, email, or his front door. The Pentagon refused to answer questions from the Associated Press about the contract.

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security plans to ban states and volunteer groups that receive government funds from helping undocumented people; lawyers for Kilmar Abrego Garcia asked a judge to place a gag order on Attorney General Pam Bondi and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem; and Washington State Democrats demanded answers for a Border Patrol raid on a firefighter camp that removed two Mexican contractors from an active wildfire line.

PARTING WORDS

"[A]fter reviewing the circumstances of Ashli's death, and considering the information that has come forward since then, I am persuaded that the previous determination was incorrect. Additionally, I would like to invite you and your family to meet me at the Pentagon to personally offer my condolences.'"

-- US Air Force undersecretary Matthew Lohmeier, who was previously fired by the Space Force for ranting about wokeness and Marxism in the military, writing this month to the parents of the late Jan. 6 insurrectionist Ashli Babbitt to share his decision to grant her a belated military funeral including "a full casket team of pallbearers, a gun-firing party, a bugler and a folded American flag." The military determined in Feb. 2021 that Babbitt's decision to storm the Capitol with a MAGA mob meant that providing her with funeral honors "would bring discredit on the Air Force."
