'Mamdani Dominated' First NYC Mayoral Debate
In last night's two-hour New York City mayoral debate, the Democratic nominee and front-runner Zohran Mamdani stuck to his affordability message, brushed off attacks from independent creep Andrew Cuomo and Republican loon Curtis Silwa, and did nothing to weaken his lead in the race. Politico, which co-hosted the debate, declared last night that "Mamdani dominated" his rivals, while Cuomo "appeared clinical and bloodless" and Silwa failed to come across as anything but a walking caricature. Mamdani also went on the attack, dismissing former Gov. Cuomo as "Donald Trump's puppet" and delivering the devastating retort, "What I don't have in experience, I make up for in integrity. What you don't have in integrity, you can never make up for with experience."
Meanwhile, the City reports that a former top aide to lame duck Mayor-Cop Eric Adams – who may soon endorse Cuomo – was secretly recorded intervening "on behalf of an alleged mob associate who was trying to get his suspended tow truck firm’s license reinstated." New Yawk!
Maine Democrat Graham Platner Disavows Old Posts Praising Socialism, Psychedelics, and the Second Amendment
CNN reports that Marine Corps veteran turned oyster farmer and Democratic US Senate candidate Graham Platner "once called himself a 'communist,' dismissed 'all' police as bastards, and said rural [w]hite Americans 'actually are' racist and stupid" five years ago under the Reddit handle P-Hustle. The posts were deleted before Platner launched his campaign challenging Republican Sen. Susan Collins in August. In the posts, Platner said his life improved after leaving the military, describing himself as "a vegetable growing, psychedelics taking socialist" who "stopped believing in any of the patriotic nonsense" and became "a firm believer that the best thing a person can do is help their neighbors and live a loving life." Scandalous!
Platner is backing away from his old posts. "As I told CNN, I was fucking around on the internet at a time when I felt lost and very disillusioned with our government who sent me overseas to watch my friends die," he tells Politico, which splashed the CNN scoop over its homepage yesterday. "I made dumb jokes and picked fights. But of course I'm not a socialist. I'm a small business owner, a Marine Corps veteran, and a retired shitposter." Do posters ever truly retire?

PARTING WORDS
"My immediate reaction was, 'Oh my God, someone actually declared their gambling winnings.' So many people just leave them off their returns entirely. They figure: 'Yeah, I lost more than I won. Why bother?'"
-- Professional gambler Richard Munchkin, speaking to the New York Times about billionaire Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker's disclosure of $1.4 million in gambling winnings on his 2024 tax returns. Pritzker says he won the money playing blackjack on a vacation to Las Vegas, got "incredibly lucky," and wisely left the game before losing his winnings.
