Donald Trump Wants To Take Over Gaza
Continuing his push for a renewed American imperialism, President Donald Trump said yesterday that he would like the United States to control Gaza, with US soldiers, at a cost to US taxpayers, and apparently for Israel's benefit. He said that Gaza has been essentially destroyed – huh how did that happen? – and that its Palestinian inhabitants should be forced to move to other countries, probably Egypt and Jordan. After Gaza's surviving Palestinian population is ethnically cleansed, Trump sees the US taking "a long-term ownership position" in the territory.
"We will own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site," said Trump. Then, he promised, there would be an economic boom that would "supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area" – a group that will no longer include Palestinians.
Trump made the announcement as wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu stood smirking next to him. "Everybody I’ve spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land," said Trump, referring perhaps to his son-in-law Jared Kushner, another hack real-estate developer who has coveted Gaza's beachfront views.
Calling it a "different idea" that "could change history," Netanyahu said that he wanted the US to pursue a takeover of Gaza. The Israeli prime minister seemed practically bowled over that Trump was not only blessing Israeli expansionism but wanted to foot the bill while becoming a full co-conspirator in destroying the Palestinian people. "I think President Trump added great force and powerful leadership to this effort," said Netanyahu.
It's an obscene proposal that some Democrats have called ridiculous. But that has never stopped Trump.

Trump Admin Starts Sending Migrants To Gitmo
Planes transporting shackled migrants began arriving yesterday in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Trump administration has said that it might send as many as 30,000 migrants to Gitmo, casting it as a place for "the worst criminal illegal aliens." Under the George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations, Gitmo was used as a holding area for Haitian asylum seekers, at one point holding tens of thousands of people.

The DoJ already ordered the FBI to produce such a list, which could contain the names of 5,000 or more FBI employees. via WaPo and NBC News.
- Google Changes Its Mind On AI Weapons Google posted revised "ethical guidelines" for its use of artificial intelligence yesterday, and the tech giant removed a section in which it said it wouldn't develop AI for weapons, surveillance, or other harmful purposes. Years after shedding its "don't be evil" motto, Google/Alphabet now has contracts with the Pentagon and the Israeli government. via WaPo.
- Right-Wing Venture Capital Firm Hires Subway Killer Daniel Penny Andreessen Horowitz, a major venture capital firm whose founders are prominent Trump supporters and whose staff have been filling out roles across the new administration, announced that it had hired subway vigilante Daniel Penny as a "deal partner." Penny, a former Marine who was found not guilty of homicide for choking to death Jordan Neely on the New York subway, has no relevant experience – a DEI hire, if you will. via Bloomberg.

The rest of the agency's 10,000 or so employees are expected to placed on leave and ordered to return to the United States by Friday. At USAID, the epicenter of Musk's purge of the administrative state, and across federal agencies, longtime government employees have been bewildered by buyout offers, forced leaves, funding freezes, and other measures that have brought official business to a standstill.
