Trump Stiffed Co-conspirators While Raking in $250 Million from Their Lies
Trump is continuing his pattern of not paying people that do work for him, this time stiffing his main legal propagandists for the Big Lie. Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and John Eastman, who now face jail time for aiding Trump, received little to no payments for their services to overturn the presidential election on his behalf.
These details surfaced in federal prosecutor's interviews with Bernard Kerik, an attorney on Giuliani's team, Kerik's attorney told CNBC.
Meanwhile, Trump raked in $250 million from his followers driven by the lies his lawyers told to challenge the election:
[T]hese challenges helped Trump and his allies raise an unprecedented $250 million from small dollar donors in the weeks following the November election, according to the final congressional report by the House select committee on the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. The money came in response to countless fundraising appeals that claimed it was needed to fund Trump’s election challenges in court.
Yet instead of paying the lawyers who tried unsuccessfully to overturn his loss, the money went into Trump’s leadership PAC, Save America.
He's now using that money to pay for his own personal legal fees.
CNBC reports that the lack of payment was the result of a rift between the fringe lawyers pushing election conspiracies on Trump's behalf, and campaign staff that wouldn't go along with the obvious farce, who also held the purse strings of the campaign.
Sidney Powell told the House select committee that she paid her staff through her own law firm and was never paid by Trump or his campaign. Eastman billed the Trump campaign for services, but got nothing.
I'd feel bad for these folks if they weren't cretins aiming to overthrow the Republic.

Downed Power-lines Possible Source of Hawaiian Wildfire; Electric Company Under Scrutiny
Videos taken in the early stages of the devastating Hawaiian wildfire, which killed at least 99 people, show that fallen utility lines were a possible cause, according to the Associated Press. Victims of the fire already filed a class-action lawsuit against Hawaiian Electric Co. for not shutting off the power as dozens of poles fell over in high winds. California has used the strategy to prevent possible wildfires. The company asserted that it had disabled an automatic recharge mechanism that turns electricity back on after failure, but a wildfire expert quoted by AP said the videos indicate the wires were likely still live. Ignition from downed power-lines seems match the evidence of multiple ignitions and no apparent natural causes for the fire. Sensors installed in the Hawaiian power grid detected a "dangerously high number" of sparking power lines in the places and times when the fires likely started.

Twitter is throttling the speed to open links from Elon Musk's least favorite websites, according to the Washington Post. The Post had tested shortened links for websites of organizations Musk has publicly attacked, like Facebook, Instagram, the New York Times, Bluesky, and Substack, and found that they took about five seconds to load. Funnily, the delay times disappeared Tuesday morning after the Post published its article. Musk previously retaliated against Substack for the launch of a micro-blogging service similar to Twitter's, marking links from the site as unsafe. Musk has previously retaliated against an account that tracked his private jet, and journalists who reported on that story. Meanwhile the Washington Post, Fox News, YouTube and Mastodon were unaffected.
