Thousands Rally in Support of Judge Arrested for Allegedly Helping Immigrant Escape Agents Stalking Him

Thousands of protesters turned out in support of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan this weekend after FBI agents arrested her Friday for allegedly helping an immigrant avoid arrest, according to the Associated Press, Spectrum News 1, and WTMJ-TV. 

Protesters marched in front of the FBI’s offices in Milwaukee and St. Francis Friday and Saturday, chanting “Immigrants are here to stay,” telling the Trump administration to respect due process, and demanding prosecutors drop the charges against Dugan. “My Grandfather Fought Nazis – So Shall I,” one protester’s sign read. Another protester told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he didn’t believe Dugan broke the law, and said “if she did, she did it for a good reason."

The FBI is accusing Dugan of earlier in the week helping a man escape federal agents after she was rightly and visibly infuriated to learn they were lurking outside her courtroom to arrest him. The FBI alleges she escorted the man and his lawyer out of her courtroom through the jury door. Agents then chased him on foot and took him into custody. 

FBI agents arrested Dugan on the courthouse grounds Friday morning, and she appeared in federal court in Milwaukee later in the day. According to the complaint, the government is accusing her of obstructing a US agency and concealing an individual to prevent an arrest – felonies that come with a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $350,000 fine. The FBI director, squirrely far-right extremist Kash Patel, offered his impressive leadership by posting a little remark about Dugan, then deleting it, then posting it again. Dugan was released from custody Friday. A preliminary hearing for her case is set for May 15. 

ICE Deports 4-Year-Old US Citizen With Stage 4 Cancer 

Immigration and Customs Enforcement thugs are continuing their lawless, racist terror campaign, and on Friday deported three US citizens ages 2, 4, and 7, the AP, Politico, and The Washington Post reported. The 4-year-old is battling stage 4 cancer and was deported without their medication or a way to contact their doctor.

The three children are from two different families in Louisiana who ICE agents snatched at a routine check-in. Agents shuffled them around the state for hours, stopped them from talking to family members or lawyers, and eventually stuck them on a flight to Honduras. A conservative federal judge in Louisiana, US District Judge Terry A. Doughty, filed an order to express his concern about the 2-year-old and his “strong suspicion that the government just deported a US citizen with no meaningful process.” Doughty, a Trump appointee, stated that “it is illegal and unconstitutional to deport” US citizens and scheduled a hearing for May 16. Neither the rule of law nor the Constitution matters to Trump and his Gestapo, which Attorney General Pamela Bondi underscored last week when she told law enforcement officials that they don't ned a warrant to break into the home of anyone they suspect is a gang member.

The fallout from Trump’s global tariffs will hit the US in the upcoming days with shortages that mirror those at the height of the ongoing Covid pandemic, NBC News and The Wall Street Journal report. The Port of Los Angeles – the biggest port in the US and major entry point for goods from China – is expecting a severe drop in imports over the next two weeks, according to the LA Times. The unhappy forecast comes as the titans of finance from around the world met in Washington, DC for last week’s International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, during which they gave in to a sense of stunned resignation and struck zero trade deals with the Trump administration. But Trump still wants them gone: US Justice Department attorney Elizabeth Kurlan said immigration officials are creating a new system for kicking out international students.
