Tate Brothers Arrested, Face 38 New Sex Trafficking and Child Exploitation Charges

Let’s start the day with some good news for once. US Marshals took two dangerous foreign nationals off American streets on Saturday, when they arrested Andrew and Tristian Tate, Trump’s manospheric friends who, like him, rape, abuse and exploit women and girls. Marshals took the brothers into custody in Miami at the request of UK officials, who want them extradited to face 38 new charges of rape, human trafficking and exploitation of children, the AP, the Guardian and the Independent reported. That’s on top of the dozens of charges they already faced. 

Andrew Tate, 39, is charged with “seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.” His brother, Tristan Tate, 38, faces “one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.” The total number of alleged victims in the case is now seven; the total number of charges against the brothers is now 59. They are expected to appear in federal court early this week. 

The Tate brothers are from England; they are social media peddlers of male dominance, misogyny and gratuitous consumption. They have dual citizenship with the US; Andrew Tate is also a citizen of Vanuatu, an archipelagic nation in the South Pacific Ocean that has no formal extradition treaty with Romania. That’s important, because the brothers lived in Romania starting in 2016 and allegedly undertook a campaign of “organized crime, human trafficking, trafficking minors and money laundering,” according to NBC. Romanian authorities arrested them in 2022 but the case stalled out after the Trump regime intervened on their behalf. Last year, the two left/fled Romania for Florida on a private jet. And while it is true that Trump could intervene again, it was still satisfying to watch them get marched away and know they spent the last two nights in a Miami jail.

Three, Possibly Four US Service Members Killed in Trump’s Unnecessary War on Iran 

Two soldiers died after Iran bombed their military base in Jordan and another died in northern Iraq; “unidentified remains” were also found in Jordan, according to the NYT. Their deaths bring the total number of military dead to at least 17 and illustrate that Trump deserves neither the title of peace president (his words) nor his fame for making deals. As my colleague Ryan Cooper put it this morning, Trump is incapable of ending the war he started. Per the NYT:

The deaths of the soldiers capped a week of spiraling attacks that largely demolished what remained of the deal to end the war that President Trump agreed to with Iran last month. Sensitive infrastructure targets like bridges and water facilities have come under fire in Iran and in U.S.-allied Kuwait on the other side of the Persian Gulf.
Even as the United States and Iran expanded the scope and intensity of the attacks in the region, there was little sign that diplomatic efforts to end the fighting were gaining traction. At least 50 people in Iran have been killed since the escalation began earlier this month, according to the Iranian health ministry.
In an unusual worldwide warning this weekend, the State Department cautioned Americans traveling abroad that tensions in the Middle East had created the “potential for unforeseen escalation.”

The woman’s gunshot injury is non-threatening and GEO Group allegedly put Booth on unpaid leave. via The Guardian. 
  • ICE Agents Cuff Man at Los Vegas Airport, Then Abandon Him 57-year-old Phu Nguyen is a citizen of Australia who screamed, “I don’t know what they’re doing,” as a crowd formed. The masked ICE agents slunk away, leaving Nguyen with a cuff dangling off his arm; agents later arrested him when there was nobody around and sent him to California’s squalid Adelanto ICE Processing Center concentration camp. via NBC News.  
  • ICE Gave Palantir Medicaid Information It Wrongly Had, Lawsuit Says “Palantir operates an app called ELITE that is used by ICE agents to show the addresses of noncitizens who may be subject to deportation.” via NPR. 
  • Phoenix Jury Sides With Man Who Ran to Father’s Aid Jurors found Isaac Luis-Amazar not guilty of assaulting a federal officer when he ran to protect his dad from an ICE agent, illustrating again that we keep us safe and that we the people hate ICE. via the Arizona Republic.

Bernie Moreno Introduces Bill to Sanction Canadian Officials for Wildfire Smoke The Republican clown’s legislation would punish Canadian officials “‘responsible’ for the fires, revoke their visas and express a sense of Congress that the Canadian ambassador is a ‘persona non grata’ until the wildfire smoke is gone.” via the HuffPost.
