‘Peace President’ Bombs Iran, Kills Ayatollah Ali Khamenei 

Donald Trump and his fellow génocidaire Benjamin Netanyahu bombed Iran on Saturday and assassinated its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the first joint operation of their so-called Board of Peace, according to Al Jazeera, the Financial Times, NBC News and the New York Times. Trump and his drunken Secretary of Defense, Peter Brian Hegseth, are monitoring the operation from Trump’s private resort in Florida and calling it “Operation Epic Fury.” Three US military service members died in the operation, US Central Command said Sunday morning, and several others were injured. A fourth service member died as of this morning.

“The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties, that often happens in war, but we’re doing this, not for now, we’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission,” Trump said in a video he posted to social media. The mission is to re-obliterate Iran’s nuclear facilities, which Trump said in June “Have Been Obliterated – and Suggestions Otherwise are Fake News,” and to prompt civilians to overthrow the government. “Bombs will be dropping everywhere,” Trump said. “When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take.”   

As of Sunday morning, Trump’s bombs had killed at least 201 people in Iran and injured another 747. The single deadliest attack was on an elementary school in Minab city, which killed at least 148 people, mostly schoolgirls. The war began on the first day of the Iranian workweek, which runs from Saturday to Wednesday, terrorizing an “already traumatized population,” the FT reported: 

Israel’s 12-day war against Iran last year – which the US briefly joined – remains fresh in the minds of Iranians, who are also still coming to terms with the authorities’ brutal crackdown against anti-regime protesters last month, which killed thousands. Ali, who works for a private company, immediately went to buy powdered milk for his child, but found that pharmacies’ shelves had been cleared: only after visiting 15 stores did he find milk supplies. State television urged people not to panic and claimed that Iran’s retaliatory attacks on US and Israeli targets in the region had been successful. 

Iran responded by bombing Israeli and US bases around the region. A bomb hit the US naval base in Bahrain, home to the US Fifth Fleet; Abu Dhabi, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates reportedly intercepted Iranian missiles targeting US bases there. 

Oman’s foreign ministry called on the UN Security Council to meet swiftly to “impose a ceasefire” and take a clear stand on international law; Oman had been the mediator between the US and Iran before Trump’s war. Incidentally, Melania Trump, Donald Trump’s third wife and friend of dead convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, is presiding over the Security Council today, the first time a head of state’s spouse has done so, the AP reported. The meeting will “emphasize education’s role in advancing tolerance and world peace.”

Trans Kansans Fight Back After State Deletes Their Rights

Two trans men in Kansas are suing the state after officials revoked the driver’s licenses of residents who had changed their gender designations, the NYT and The Guardian reported. The lawsuit requests a temporary restraining order and injunction to prevent Kansas from enforcing the law, which targets about 1,700 people. The state’s department of motor vehicles told transgender Kansas residents that their driver’s licenses were invalid as of last Thursday to conform with a new law that forces all identification to reflect peoples’ “sex at birth.” The law also forbids trans people from using bathrooms that match their identity and establishes a $1,000 bounty on trans people who don’t comply. 

Concentration Camp Contractor GEO Group Lied About Man Who Died

The prison company, which recently clocked an 800 percent increase in annual earnings thanks to government contracts (read: our taxes), repeatedly doctored detention records about a 37-year-old Cameroonian father of three who died at the Moshannon Valley ICE Processing Center in 2023, according to documents The Intercept obtained. Franklin Okpu died in solitary confinement after GEO Group staff put him there “following an altercation with a guard in which he allegedly swallowed an unknown substance they believed to contain ‘k2,’ a synthetic form of cannabis, ‘mixed with a tranquilizer.’” GEO Group said they checked on him every 15 minutes, but a federal death review found that was a lie. Instead of punishing the contractor, Immigration and Customs Enforcement gave executives another $4 million for Moshannon, where two more prisoners have since died. Chaofeng Ge, 32, died by hanging last August. ICE said he killed himself, but his autopsy said his hands and feet were bound behind his back. In December, Sheikh Fouad Saeed Abdulkadir, 46, died at Moshannon from unspecified causes. Per The Intercept: 

A one-page Detainee Death Report ICE released last week claims he “declined recommended admission to the medical housing unit for monitoring,” following an abnormal EKG reading “in early December,” after he’d reported chest pain, numbness, and tingling. The detainee death report does not explain why Abdulkadir was not rushed to the Emergency Department following the abnormal EKG.

That’s how many companies Elon Musk has amassed in Texas since he announced he was moving there in 2020 and “embarking on a personal austerity campaign to strip his life of belongings.” But instead of doing that, the world’s richest man has collected dozens of companies, including 37 “that appeared to be largely for Mr. Musk’s personal use,” according to an NYT investigation:
