Israeli Military Uses Palestinian Human Shields, Soldiers Say
Israeli troops systematically force Palestinians to act as human shields in Gaza and the West Bank, multiple soldiers told the Associated Press – the very practice Israel has long claimed of Hamas. International law bans using human shields, but Israeli troops do it so often that the sources said they considered it a ubiquitous standard procedure of nearly every platoon. Orders came from the top, they said.
“These are not isolated accounts; they point to a systemic failure and a horrifying moral collapse,” said Nadav Weiman, executive director of Breaking the Silence, a whistleblower group of former Israeli soldiers. “Israel rightly condemns Hamas for using civilians as human shields, but our own soldiers describe doing the very same.”
Israel, which now controls 77 percent of Gaza through “continued genocide, ethnic cleansing,” alleged it was investigating. Israeli Occupation Forces continued their US-backed genocide throughout the weekend, killing journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda and several of his family members and bombing the home of a pediatric doctor in Gaza and killing nine of her 10 children while she was on duty.
“Enough! Have mercy on us! We plead to all countries, the international community, the people, Hamas, and all factions to have mercy on us,’’ said one of the doctor’s relatives. “We are exhausted from the displacement and the hunger, enough!”
Today, the military killed at least 52 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including 36 who were sleeping in a school. Also, Israeli ultranationalists marched in Jerusalem, chanted "death to Arabs," and harassed Palestinian residents. Some of them, including a member of parliament, broke into a UN compound.

That’s how many pounds Pennywise the loggerhead sea turtle weighs – so large that when a boat hit and severely injured her, veterinarians at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Florida had to use a machine for horses to perform a needed CT scan. In addition to finding that the boat had damaged the bones around her spinal cord, they also found Pennywise is carrying eggs. They’ll return her to the wild once she’s recovered. Loggerheads are endangered, the injury was preventable, and vets urged boaters to slow the f down during Florida’s nesting season, which runs from March 1 to Oct. 31.
