THE BIG NEWS
Israel Backs Mandatory Death Sentence for Palestinians
The Israeli parliament voted in favor of a bill that would impose a “mandatory death sentence on Palestinians who kill Jewish Israelis for nationalist reasons, but not on Jewish Israelis who kill Palestinians,” the Financial Times reported. The bill passed 39-16 after a member of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s far-right Jewish Power party proposed it. Ben-Gvir was seen after the vote handing out sweets to lawmakers in celebration.
According to Middle East Eye, the Knesset’s National Security Committee approved the bill 4-1 ahead of the consideration of the full Knesset. “Israeli security officials had previously opposed the measure, warning that it could endanger Israeli captives held by Palestinian factions in Gaza. However, following the release of all surviving captives by Hamas last month, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave the green light for the bill to move forward, according to Prisoners and Missing Persons Coordinator Gal Hirsch, who works in the prime minister’s office. He said the earlier objections had “become irrelevant.’”
The FT reported that ahead of the full Knesset vote, three Arab politicians were kicked out of the chamber. The bill must have two more readings before it can become law. The bill is a “new form of escalating Israeli extremism and criminality against the Palestinian people,” the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said, according to Al Jazeera. It comes as Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire and as settlers routinely murder Palestinians in occupied West Bank.
MORE STORIES TO WATCH
UK No Longer Sharing Info With US Over Illegal Bombing Campaign
The United Kingdom doesn’t want to be complicit in the regime’s murder spree in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, so it is cutting off intelligence about suspected drug smuggling vessels, sources told CNN. The UK’s decision is “a significant break from its closest ally and intelligence-sharing partner and underscores the growing skepticism” about the serial murders. “For years, the UK, which controls a number of territories in the Caribbean where it bases intelligence assets, has helped the US locate vessels suspected of carrying drugs so that the US Coast Guard could interdict them, the sources said. That meant the ships would be stopped, boarded, its crew detained, and drugs seized.” Not anymore. On Sunday, former Fox News host Peter Brian Hegseth, who is the Secretary of Defense, continued his maritime bombing campaign with two more strikes that killed six people, the NYT reported. The death toll is now at least 76 people in 19 known attacks, according to the NYT death tracker.
Bovino Leaving Chicago Soon, Plotting Return With More Thugs
The regime’s Operation Midway Blitz terror campaign is wrapping up in Chicago but may return with hundreds more in the spring, the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune and WBEZ Chicago reported. Sources told the outlets that Commander Gregory Bovino’s border patrol thugs are “rapidly winding down after a contentious two months of enforcement raids that have set the city and suburbs on edge.” Bovino himself is expected to leave Chicago “within days.” Good, get out. Among other offenses, the Nazi Stormtrooper wannabe oversaw the attack on a South Shore apartment building on Sept. 30, during which “armed federal agents in military fatigues approached or entered nearly every apartment in the five-story, 130-unit apartment building, using flashbang grenades, busting down doors, and pulling men, women and children from their beds. Agents put residents in zip ties and led them to unmarked vans to wait for hours while handcuffed, with children separated from their parents,” according to the letter that members of the House Homeland Security and Judiciary committees wrote as they launched an investigation into the abuses. The letter demanded answers from the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, including “details on warrants used, the number of US citizens and children detained, evidence supporting DHS’s claims of criminality, and explanations for tactics including the use of flashbang grenades, helicopters, and the zip-tying of children.”

SOME NUMBER
$3 million
That’s how much county-level officials have to pay three journalists and a city councilor for orchestrating an illegal raid on the Marion County Record, a small newspaper in Kansas that publishes hard-hitting stories. Officials struck when they learned that a Record journalist had obtained proof that a local restauranteur’s driver’s license was suspended after a DUI, reporting that both threatened the woman’s effort to get a liquor license and called out the officials who were letting her drive anyway. Police ransacked the newspaper’s office and the publisher’s home, “seized computers and personal cellphones, and caused fatal stress for the newspaper owner’s 98-year-old mother,” The Kansas Reflector and independent journalist Marisa Kabas wrote. In one story, the team detailed how county officials upended reporters’ lives with the raid and vilified them within the community.
In addition to the $3 million, Marion County Sheriff’s office officials also had to say they regretted their illegal actions. “The Sheriff’s Office wishes to express its sincere regrets to Eric and Joan Meyer and Ruth and Ronald Herbel for its participation in the drafting and execution of the Marion Police Department’s search warrants on their homes and the Marion County Record,” the statement says. “This likely would not have happened if established law had been reviewed and applied prior to the execution of the warrants.”

PARTING WORDS
“I’m trying to do the best I can with what I have. I don’t know anything about this, or I would have paid, but they didn’t even give me the opportunity to present my information.”
-- Tonya Davis, a single mother who works at a local hospital in Tennessee, who is one of the thousands of people that payday lender Advance Financial is suing over their usurious loans. According to an investigation from ProPublica, Advance gives borrowers thousands of dollars at a 279.5 percent annual interest rate, then sues them into oblivion when they can’t pay – or when their identity is stolen. In Davis’ case, she never borrowed from Advance and even told them that the Social Security number on the account they had in her name wasn’t hers. They said they’d look into it, then six years later, sued her for almost $4,800. “This is their business model,” said Marla Williams, a consumer law attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee.
