Kamala Harris Gives Voters Her Closing Pitch
With one week left until election day, Kamala Harris held a rally in the Ellipse in Washington, DC – the same place where Donald Trump delivered his own call to arms that led to a crowd violently storming the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. The venue choice was deliberate and plainly acknowledged, with Harris telling a crowd of 75,000 supporters:
"We know who Donald Trump is. He is the person who stood at this very spot nearly four years ago and sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people in a free and fair election."
Calling Trump a "wannabe dictator," Harris highlighted the deranged felon's authoritarian designs, from his stated intent to pardon Jan. 6 rioters to his desire to use the U.S. military to go after "the enemy within."
She also offered the kind of hazily optimistic, cheerfully patriotic rhetoric that is a staple among the non-geriatric portion of the Democratic establishment:
"America is the greatest idea humanity ever devised. A nation big enough to encompass all our dreams, strong enough to withstand any fracture or fissure between us, and fearless enough to imagine a future of possibilities."
While Harris courted the masses with breezy promises of a brighter tomorrow, her surrogates met with Arab American voters and politicians in belated attempts to woo much-needed swing-state votes while refusing to apologize for the administration's complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza.
"I love this country, but I’ll tell you, we have never been so disappointed in this country as we are now,” said Nabih Ayad, the founder and director the Arab American Civil Rights League. "We wanted to give the Democratic Party the opportunity to do something, and they haven’t."

The Supreme Court rejected a request from erstwhile independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to have his name removed from ballots in Michigan and Wisconsin. Since ending his campaign and bending the knee to Donald Trump, RFK Jr. has played a complicated legal game to get his name removed from ballots in battleground states – while staying on ballots in some other states – in order to shift his supporters to Trump. The gambit hasn't quite worked, with judicial decisions, electoral deadlines, and the "no take backs" rule conspiring against him. As Michigan election officials told the Supreme Court, "This election is not merely ‘imminent,’ it is already underway, and voters are already voting."

- Hezbollah Names A New Leader Who Israel Immediately Vows To Kill Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group and political party, announced Naim Qassem as its new leader, replacing Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed along with dozens of other Lebanese people in a massive Israeli air strike last month. "Temporary appointment," wrote Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on X. "Not for long." via Reuters.
