THE BIG NEWS
China, India, Russia Planning World Without US
In yet another sign that Trump is isolating the United States from the rest of the world, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian PM Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday held hands, hugged, and pledged cooperation, the BBC, NBC News and NYT reported. The three were at the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation along with about 20 other world leaders and are among the five original members of a group of “emerging market” economies called BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. BRICS counts five other nations as members, represents more than half the global population, and produces 40 percent of the world’s economic output; they recently met in Brazil and discussed the need for a new economic order. Trump responded by threatening to impose additional tariffs on nations that align with them.
The meeting Monday suggested that global leaders are sick of Trump’s BS. Modi and Xi announced new friendliness between their nations. Modi said there was an "atmosphere of peace and stability” between India and China and that flights to and from both would resume; they had been halted over fighting on the Himalayan border. Xi said they must make long-term strategic moves and that “it is the right choice for both sides to be friends.” Xi and Modi lead the two most populous countries and largest economies on the planet.
