Corrupt Former LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva Is a Psychopath, Doctor Finds 

Corrupt ex-Los Angeles County Sheriff and RFK, Jr. ensign Alex Villanueva is a psychopath, a forensic consultant in psychiatry and behavioral sciences said in a new court document. “The combination of antisocial and narcissistic features is also referred to as psychopathy,” wrote Marc Cohen, assistant dean and associate clinical professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at UCLA. “There is evidence that Alex Villanueva has many attributes of a ‘white collar’ psychopath, including: a grandiose sense of self-worth; lack of remorse; manipulative behavior; pathological lying; and a failure to accept responsibility for his own actions.” 

Cohen’s analysis was part of a forensic psychiatric evaluation to determine if Villanueva had suffered mental damage or emotional harm when the county put him on a “do not rehire” list, as Villanueva alleges it did in a lawsuit. It did not, Cohen determined. Instead, Cohen found that Villanueva “has features of antisocial and narcissistic personality disorder that includes repeated lying; a lack of remorse; a grandiose sense of self-importance; entitlement; exploitative and manipulative behavior; a lack of empathy; and arrogance.” Cohen’s assessment included a nearly 7-hour face-to-face examination late last month.

Villanueva was sheriff for a single term between 2018 and 2022, during which he raided a Democratic county supervisor’s home, harassed and retaliated against an inspector general, targeted and harassed women of color, and tried to intimidate a journalist for reporting on him. A year ago, Villanueva ran for a seat on the LA County Board of Supervisors, lost badly, then denied the election results. More recently, Villanueva tried to get a job at LA Metro, which is creating a new police force and which he once investigated to satisfy a political vendetta. As LA Times reporter Keri Blakinger said on social media, “It is genuinely unhinged to oversee a RAID on an organization’s headquarters and then APPLY TO WORK THERE.”

55,000 Workers Strike in Nation’s Most Populous County

Tens of thousands of Los Angeles County workers have been on strike this week after county officials offered them a 0% cost-of-living pay increase despite recently spending millions on a downtown skyscraper, the AP, Los Angeles Daily News, and The Los Angeles Times reported. The strike across the most populous county in America has closed down libraries, beach bathrooms, parks, some healthcare clinics, and other services, county officials said. It is set to last until 7 p.m. today. This is the first time all members of Service Employees International Union Local 721 have gone on strike – including clerical workers, custodians, parks and rec staff, public health officials, and social workers who serve the county’s 10 million residents. “This is the workforce that got LA County through emergency after emergency: the January wildfires, public health emergencies, mental health emergencies, social service emergencies and more,” union leader David Green said in a statement. “That’s why we have had it with the labor law violations and demand respect for our workers.”

US Bird Flu Failure Risks “Terrible Consequences” of New Pandemic

The United States must do more to prevent bird flu from spreading to people, human and animal virologists from the Global Virus Network said Tuesday, according to the Financial Times. The disease carries a high mortality rate for people, the group said, so US leaders should beware of “the terrible consequences of underreacting to current threats.” Since March 2024, bird flu has spread to all 50 states and Puerto Rico, killing or forcing farmers to cull tens of millions of poultry and also infecting more than 1,000 dairy herds. Farmers across the country have reported hundreds of thousands of new infections since last month, the agricultural trade publication Successful Farming reported. The virus has already killed one person and sickened at least 70 others – infections that came from animals. But it’s only a matter of time before the disease spreads between people, too, unless the US takes stronger action, the virologists said.

Like, how do you just leave me like this? Like an abandoned dog.”
