Another Killer ICE Agent Identified: Gregory Feathers
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who murdered 52-year-old Houston dad Lorenzo Salgado Araujo three months ago is a man named Gregory Feathers, according to the Texas Tribune. The identification comes as ICE agents execute Trump’s mass deportation terror campaign across the country with new tactics to draw less attention than previously. As the Guardian reported, agents are stalking immigrants at traffic stops, gas stations, airports and routes to and from work to snatch a record number of people: “Now ICE is anywhere and everywhere, embedded in all corners of everyday life.”
Feathers is just one of the many immigration agents who have brutalized people for months. We know the names of only a few, including Jack Stevens, who murdered Ruben Ray Martinez last March; Brian Palacios, who murdered Keith Porter Jr. last December; Jonathan Ross, who murdered Renee Good in January; Jesus Ochoa and Raymundo Gutierrez, who murdered Alex Pretti the same month; and David Michael Brouillette, who murdered Joan Sebastiá Durán Guerrero in June.
Those killers walk free, and so does Feathers, who has been charged with no crime and whom the federal government said was acting in his own self-defense. However, the local district attorney “appears to be currently empaneling a grand jury that could result in criminal charges for Feathers, who through his attorney declined to comment.” According to the Tribune, Feathers had been retired, but he rejoined ICE to years ago as it rushed to staff up with thugs.
