Content Warning: Trump, Serial Offender, in His Skivvies

"There are some things that are probably better left unsaid," New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan said during Sick F*ck Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial yesterday, as the porn star Stormy Daniels testified for five hours in excruciating detail about her brief but disturbing sexual encounter with the future Republican leader at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, California in 2006. But prompted by prosecutors, Daniels left little to the imagination, beginning with her initial response to a dinner invitation from Trump delivered by a security guard: "F no."

Her publicist convinced her to reconsider – saying, "like, what could possibly go wrong?" – which ultimately led to what the Washington Post describes as "a sexual experience that often did not sound consensual." Daniels described how Trump, after giving her a "jump scare" by posing on the hotel bed in his boxer shorts, "'stood up between me and the door, not in a threatening manner,' though she said she felt an imbalance of power, particularly with Trump's security guard outside."

Trump cursed audibly at times during Daniels' testimony, outbursts that Judge Merchan warned had the potential to intimidate the witness. For instance, the New York Times reports that when Daniels asked Trump about his wife, "he told her not to worry, that they didn't even sleep in the same room — prompting Mr. Trump to shake his head in disgust and mutter 'bullsh*t' to his lawyers, loud enough that it drew a private rebuke from the judge, who called it 'contemptuous.'" New York City Mayor-Cop Eric Adams assured reporters that the "professionals" at Rikers Island jail are "ready" to book Trump if the judge so orders. Inshallah.

Daniels also testified that Trump suggested she could appear on "The Apprentice" despite her adult-film background, and that he reminded her of his "smart and blond and beautiful" daughter. Under cross-examination, she also insisted that she was "absolutely" threatened by a man in a Las Vegas parking lot in 2011 "in what she viewed as a bid to keep her silent about Trump." Merchan rejected Trump's lawyers' request for a mistrial on the basis that Daniels' testimony might prejudice the jury. They will continue to cross-examine Daniels in court today.

Meanwhile in Florida, the federal judge in the criminal stolen documents case delayed Trump's trial, originally scheduled for later this month, indefinitely. Finally, some Libertarian Party members are upset that Trump will address their national convention this month, calling the growing Republican influence over their organization "an abomination."

PARTING WORDS

"This election is not between Joe Biden and God. It is between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. ... I understand that a lot of people in this country are less than enthusiastic about Biden for a number of reasons and I get that. And I strongly disagree with him, especially on what's going on in Gaza. [But y]ou have to have a certain maturity when you deal with politics and that is yes, you can disagree with somebody. That doesn't mean you can vote for somebody else who could be the most dangerous person in American history, or not vote and allow that other guy to win."

-- Vermont socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, speaking to the Associated Press about why he intends to be an "aggressive" surrogate for Biden's reelection campaign despite their differences on domestic and foreign policy.
