Trump Declines to Testify at Hush Money Trial

Before his criminal hush money trial in New York, Sick F*ck Donald Trump blustered that he would "absolutely" testify in his own defense, saying, "I'm testifying. I tell the truth. I mean, all I can do is tell the truth." Ah, well. The defense rested yesterday having called only two witnesses, neither of whom was Trump. And when a reporter shouted "Mr. Trump, why won't you testify" as he left the courtroom, he declined to explain himself. Gagged? Sad. Closing arguments commence next week. Meanwhile in Florida, newly unsealed motions in the indefinitely delayed stolen documents case show that Trump "ensured" his employees stayed out of view of Mar-a-Lago's security cameras while moving his pilfered classified papers around the property – meaning prosecutors have more evidence of obstruction by Trump. And in Arizona, the dangerously tipsy Rudy Giuliani pleaded not guilty to nine felony charges stemming from his participation in Trump's Jan. 2021 coup attempt.

PARTING WORDS

"The economy is not a zero-sum game. When one person has a job, that does not mean one less job for somebody else. We can say for sure that [Trump's mass deportation plans] would translate into a higher unemployment rate for U.S.-born workers. That is not a temporary effect."

-- Chloe East, a University of Colorado economist focusing on immigration policy, speaking to the Washington Post about the devastating effects on the US job market if Trump were reelected and somehow followed through on his obscene and hateful promise to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants. Inflation would spike, as well, in addition to other profound harms throughout the economy.
